The University Writing Center, a free writing resource open to everyone involved in the George Mason community, operates under the Writing Across the Curriculum program. We offer individual, group, and online tutoring sessions in a comfortable, supportive atmosphere for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Trained graduate tutors from the English department and exceptional undergraduate tutors from a variety of majors are eager to assist you with writing in any discipline and at any stage of your writing process whether you're just beginning to brainstorm or want to go over a final version of your work. We'll help whether your assignment is a long research paper or a short personal note, such as personal statements or business letters.
The Writing Center will not proofread your work for you, but we will work with you to develop revision and editing strategies that can last a lifetime. Our tutors want to emphasize positive attitudes and helpful ways of thinking about writing. We want you to become more confident and effective writers across the curriculum and in your personal and professional lives.
